EBC2ASC v1 (c)1990 by Rob Fugina

This program will read an EBCDIC text file, unreadable on a PC, and convert it
to a standard ASCII text file.
The EBCDIC text file must have a line length of no more than 255, otherwise a
runtime error of 100 will occur. This limit can be changed easily, if needed,
after registering your copy and obtaining the source listing. I would also be
happy to change it for you before sending the source out to you.
I went to great lengths to obtain a correct and complete translation table.
Some of the EBCDIC low-end control characters are not represented, and none of
the extended two-byte EBCDIC characters that I have heard of are represented.
HOWEVER, all of the international EBCDIC characters are supported, if not by
their exact duplicates in ASCII or extended ASCII, then to the bare letters
without the accent marks, etc.
One recommended use (the reason it was written...): You want to download some
text files from your local mainframe, but you'd like to compress them somehow,
considering how slow Kermit transfers are, and you'd like to use an .ARC or
.ZIP type utility to do it. You could archive the files and download them to
your PC. BUT, when you un-archive the files on your PC, the text files are
all in EBCDIC. Here's the answer... Use EBC2ASC to convert those files into
ASCII.
This is not Freeware! If you find this program useful, then please send $10,
a disk mailer and return postage to the address below, and you will receive a
registered copy of EBC2ASC and Turbo Pascal 5.5(R) source. If possible,
include a Bitnet or Internet address for future update information. I can be
reached on Bitnet at S096128@UMRVMA and on Internet at S096128@UMRVMA.UMR.EDU.
